Recruiting Startup of the Year Nominee: Botmatic

Contrary to the flashbacks of cackling, tipsy aunties at Thanksgiving the word may conjure, chatbots are all the rage these days, saving your business time online by letting robots do the talking for you. And while this little French startup is sure to get people talking at Hiring Success 18, being able to replace your presence at awkward family functions is still a ways off. Vote here!

Meet the companies vying for the title of Recruiting Startup Of The Year (RSOTY) at Hiring Success 18, in San Francisco, March 12-14. Register here! Your vote determines which six are flying to California to pitch their ideas to 1000+ Talent Acquisition leaders and puts them in the running for the grand prize.

One of these six will be selected by a group of C-Suite experts and industry analysts for the ultimate prize of a Gold Sponsorship to Hiring Success 19, worth $10,000, which includes a branded booth and dedicated demo-room for potential customers to interact with their product.

Botmatic is one of the many startups looking to win big at Hire18, with its keyboard-first “botimation” process. We spoke to CEO Arthur Boivin about the natural processes behind his automation brainchild.

What’s your company’s elevator pitch?

We automate the process from candidate application to employee onboarding, so recruiters can focus on their main asset, which is people.

What gave you the idea for your startup? Is there a particular experience you could point to?

Back in the day I used to work in the Oil and Gas industry in Angola and Qatar. Quickly recruiting people available to work offshore was key in our operations.

Of all industries to tackle, why recruiting?

Recruiting is key to grow a company and to change our economy. You need the best people at the right place. People are the key asset of the knowledge economy.

How do you envision your idea changing the talent acquisition landscape?

It’s all about providing the best experience to candidates.

What does ‘hiring success’ mean to you?

Hiring success means both the company and the new employee found themselves happy to share a part their journey.

What is your favorite interview question and why?

My favorite question interview is “Do you have a motto?” Well, one for hiring is “Go to bed with a dream, wake up with a purpose.” Hiring is all about finding purpose between a company and a candidate.

What’s the ultimate role of technology in hiring?

Technology in hiring is here to give more space for empathy between recruiters and short-listed candidates.
